Family business Tiong Bahru Teochew Kueh, which is located at the bustling Tiong Bahru Market and Food Centre, has been around since 1974.

The business has been passed down over generations and is currently helmed by Mr Law, who hails from Nanyang, China.

He took over the reins from his sister as he wanted more people to enjoy traditional Teochew kueh.

The business has over 30 different kueh flavours and Mr Law hopes to introduce more flavours each year.

Some popular options include png kueh, black bean kueh and glutinous rice.

As I grow older, I've come to better appreciate old-school snacks such as Teochew kueh.

This particular stall at Tiong Bahru has been here for decades and I was curious to see how their kueh tasted.

I ordered the png kueh, which I ate while growing up. My mum used to serve it to me with dark sauce for an extra sweetness.

This time around, I ate the kueh without sauce. The pink, sticky skin that encases the glutinous rice broke apart easy and was not too dry or overly chewy. I was concerned that the starchy snack would be too heavy on the palate but it surprisingly wasn't. Makes for a good afternoon snack if you're feeling peckish!
