Heng Kee is a family-run business that is currently helmed by second-generation owners.

The decades-old stall was founded all the way back in 1970s and specialises in, its name says, curry chicken noodles.

Each bowl of well-crafted curry chicken noodles features yellow noodle, tofu puffs, chicken slices and fish cakes that are doused with a fragrant, rich and spicy curry gravy.

The stall is in the same hawker centre as another famous curry chicken noodle stall - Ah Heng Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee - and there is an age-old debate over which is the better curry chicken noodle stall.

Both garner long queues and Heng Kee usually sells out earlier, so get there fast so you won't miss out!

I'm a huge fan of curry chicken noodles and I was eager to see if Heng Kee lived up to the hype.

I've actually tried patronising them a few times but they were always so old, so I was thrilled to finally snag a bowl of the curry chicken noodles! In fact, I was lucky because right after I got mine, the stall closed for the day!

And I can truly see why the noodle here are so popular. What really carried the dish was the rich, aromatic curry gravy that coated all the ingredients so generously and gave it that lemak taste. The chicken slices, though doused in the hot curry broth, were also extremely tender and succulent.

So, is it worth waking up early for? I believe so!
