The decades-old business started as a humble pushcart stall in the 1960s before moving to a hawker centre.

It was run by Toh Sam Hee, who is a second-generation owner of the stall. He took over the business from his family and used their family recipe.

Mr Toh has since passed on in July 2023 and he had run the stall for 32 years before he died.

Back when he was still alive, his stall won the Michelin Bib Gourmand award from 2016 to 2019.

Apart from the stall's speciality dish, bak kut teh, they also sell other pork dishes like pig's tail soup, pig's trotter and pig's intestine.

Signature

Bak Kut Teh, Pig's Trotter

When I arrived here on a weekday afternoon, the stall was not too crowded and I managed to snag myself a bowl of soup as well as some rice and you tiao for dipping.

The bak kut teh here is Hokkien-style and is more on the herbal side, unlike the peppery Teochew-style bak kut teh that Singaporeans are more used to.

I actually prefer this bak kut teh! It was extremely herbaceous and strong, almost like medicine but it tasted good too. The soup is also a dark liquid, almost black, which means that it had been boiled for a very long time.

The pork ribs inside the soup were also really tender and juicy! Dunk those fried you tiao in the soup for some variant in texture.
