Seng Huat Western Food is an age-old family establishment that has been in Singapore's food scene for almost 40 years. The business was previously run by Lium Dag Lock and his son Eric Lium Soo Cheng.

In fact, the business is so recognised that Singapore's sixth president, the late S.R. Nathan, paid the stall a visit many years back!

The stall sells all kinds of old school western favourites such as chicken chop, fish fillet rice, spring chicken and even lamp chop. Apparently, many years back, they even sold ostrich meat steaks! However, that has since been discontinued.

Their once yellowing signboard which showed how much the stall has aged has since been replaced with a spanking new, bright signboard!

Nothing beats an old-fashioned, hearty plate of Western food and I got my fix at Seng Huat Western Food.

I came quite late in the afternoon and there was no queue. Thankfully, the stall was still open and I was served by a frail elderly lady.

I ordered the Mixed Grill so I could have some variety on my plate and this came with pork chop, a sausage, chicken wings, baked beans, a fried egg, fries, garlic bread and some cucumber slices. What an absolute feast!

I felt like a king eating this and loved how there was a little bit of everything for me to try. The meats were done well and were tender and succulent. I also really liked using the bread to mop up all that sauce.

The crinkle-cut fries were also cooked to a lovely golden brown crisp and were perfectly salted.
