Kurihara, who was impressed by Singapore's Mee Pok decided to open up a shop of his own with his family. In addition to exquisite Singapore-style mee poks, there are also soy sauce and miso mee pocks with a Japanese twist, which is widely accepted by people in Singapore. The staff are also friendly with a smile.
We ordered the ’Special Mee Pok’ (dry) which rang up to $4, and came with soup on the side. As well as the most popular ‘Japanese Fusion Mee Pok Miso’ (dry) priced at $6. My favourite was definitely the Japanese version - which came with thick slices of fatty chashu, mini meatballs, sliced sweet abalone, grounded pork meat, and to finish it all off - a chewy wavy mee pok noodle. The fragrance of the miso came right through as the dish was served, which was delightful. However, the broth could have been less sweet. Overall, a good bang for your buck for a large portion of noodles.
