Toast Box is a household name that is loved by all Singaporeans and is popular for its kaya toast, local mains and freshly brewed cups of Nanyang coffee.
Established in 2005, the coffee chain has multiple outlets peppered across Singapore. Now, they even have stores in Hong Kong, Jakarta and Johor Bahru.
The coffee here is made from freshly-ground caramelised coffee beans which gives it its distinct aroma and flavour profile.
Food-wise, you can also grab dishes like laksa, mee siam and nasi lemak — classic Singapore dishes that are full of nostalgia!
I've always known that toast box sells the usual coffee, kaya toast and mee siam. But I just found out that they now sell prata, so I had to check it out!
I arrived at their Somerset outlet around 4pm in the afternoon and was surprised to find that it was very packed even though it wasn't peak lunch or dinner period. Waited for around 5 minutes before I finally snagged a seat. Ordered a kaya toast set, curry chicken, and of course, the prata.
Was pleasantly surprised by the prata, it was so crispy and crunchy! It also wasn't drenched in oil which was good. You're provided with both sugar and curry to dunk it in and I much preffered the curry.
The chicken curry is similar to the prata curry but with more meat and potatoes. I had this with rice and was very homely and nostalgic!
Drinks as usual was on point — It is Toast Box afterall!
