Tim Ho Wan was founded by Chef Mak Kwai Pui — who formerly worked at 3 Michelin Star Lung King Heen restaurant in Hong Kong — and Chef Leung Fai Keung.

It first started out as a humble 20-seater dim sum restaurant in Mongkok and a year later, they earned their very first one Michelin Star.

Known as one of the more affordable Michelin-starred restaurants in the world, the chain now has multiple outlets worldwide (over 60!), including in Singapore, so guests can easily access their dim sum.

The first Tim Ho Wan outlet opened at Plaza Singapura in 2013 and a number of others followed suit, including the one at Great World City. Till today, all the restaurants see snaking long queues despite it being over a decade — a testament to the quality food that they serve.

Popular menu items include their BBQ Pork Buns, Steamed Egg Cake, Beancurd Skin with Pork & Shrimp as well as Pan-fried Carrot Cake.

It's always easy to get spoilt for choice at Tim Ho Wan! Ordered several of their dishes including their Shrimp Rice Rolls, Egg Tarts, Flat Fish, Meatballs & Peanut Congee, and Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gao).

What a spread it was! It definitely was hard to pick a favourite dish because everything was so good and fresh. The congee was creamy and chock full of ingredients while the rice rolls were smooth and silky with a good bite.

The Har Gao was admittedly on the pricier side but this is well worth it because it was packed with juicy, crunchy shrimp.

Another recommended menu item to try is their BBQ Pork Buns, which I ordered on my previous tri here. Those are excellent and worth the hype too!
