Now with two outlets - Commonwealth and Sin Ming Avenue, they pride themselves as serving “high class zi char dishes”. It is no wonder that people all over Singapore flock to these two outlets to get their hands on the variety of dishes - your zi char staples as well as innovative additions.
Most people are willing to pay a little more for their unique dishes such as the famous Butter Pork Ribs and Drunken Cold Cockles, knowing that the quality of food will not be compromised. While it’s not exactly your home-cooked food, there is certainly a level of home-style cooking that you’d enjoy as a weekend family dinner. Whether you are here for crabs or a simple fried rice, be sure to head there early as seats get occupied way before the lunch and dinner hours.
I went to Two Chefs Eating Place with a few friends and of course we had the famous Butter Pork, along with the Vegetable Egg and the XO Salted Egg Yolk Prawns. I was definitely anticipating the Butter Pork among the dishes as the people around me had talked quite a bit on it.
The Butter Pork was unique, to say the least. It was cooked well, with chewy deep-fried meat in every bite. What makes this dish stand out is its signature sweet-savoury milk powder that covers the meat. While it sounds weird, trust me when I say the buttery taste is something you’ll crave for after a while.
The other dishes I had were good and delicious, which made for a pleasant evening. Though not fantastic, I still thought those dishes were above average and will definitely be back to try the other dishes with a bigger group of friends.
