Chong Pang Nasi Lemak first started out at Chong Pang Village Hawker Centre in 1973. They then moved to a coffee shop that is situated at Sembawang Road. Unlike many other nasi lemak stalls in Singapore that sell the basic nasi lemak sets, Chong Pang Nasi Lemak operates more like a cai fan (mixd rice) stall and allow their customers to pick and choose what ingredients they want to have in their nasi lemak. Aside from the usual stuff like chicken wings, otah and fried egg, they also have offerings such as sotong and sweet and sour chicken. They are also a great supper spot for people with late-night cravings as they open from 5pm to 7am daily.

I like how I get to customise my nasi lemak here and I got a fried chicken, fried egg and sotong. Each plate also comes with fragrant pandan rice and a generous side of sambal. The fried chicken was pretty sizable and had a nice crisp exterior, with the chicken flesh remaining tender and juicy. I also love the sotong, which was fresh, chewy and cooked in a red sweet sauce. The sambal was also sweet and slightly spicy, adding a decent kick when eaten with the chicken and the rice. Rice is an important factor in nasi lemak and the one here is fluff and well seperated. Despite the place being quite out of the way unless you live nearby or drive, the nasi lemak is worth travelling down for!
