Twenty Grammes was founded in 2014 by a group of Singaporeans.

Interestingly enough, their name was inspired by their journey to create the perfect waffle.

The team experimented with countless of traditional recipes from renowned pastry chefs and ended up creating their rendition of a waffle by mistake when they mistook a 3 as a 2 and they added 20 grams. of butter to the mix instead of 30 grams.

The result? A light waffle that had a rich, luscious flavour. Something that they had aimed to create.

The cafe doesn't just sell waffles — they sell ice cream to pair with them too. They also is a menu filled with a range of drinks for diners to enjoy with their desserts.

Over the years, Twenty Grammes started to add savoury mains and snacks to their menu. They also have savoury waffles made with their signature recipe!

Signature

Molten Chocolate Lava Cake, Pulled Chicken Nachos

I first visited Twenty Grammes many years back when they were located at Ang Mo Kio.

Now, their only store is at North Bridge Road in a quaint shophouse.

There usually is a long snaking queue on weekends but when I visited on a Sunday afternoon, the shop was crowded but I managed to get a seat.

The menu left me spoilt for choice — I didn't remember there being that many menu items! After much deliberation, I decided to customise my own waffles. I opted for the mochi waffles with sesame and salted caramel ice cream. I also opted to add brownie sprinkles.

For drinks, I got a teapot of fruit tea to counter the sweetness of the waffles and ice cream.

The waffles were as good as I remember and I absolutely loved the mochi texture! It was so chewy and addictive. And adding the brownie cubes was a genius move because these added a rich, chocolate flavour.
