Anglo Indian Cafe & Bar is located in the middle of the CBD area, making it a convenient location to visit.
The business opened its first store in 2011 at Shenton Way and over the next decade, they opened several other restaurants at Straits View and CHIJMES.
For the uninitiated, Anglo Indian cuisine was developed during the British Raj in India by British colonialist and is a unique blend of Indian and British cooking styles.
Anglo Indian Cafe & Bar also was featured in the Michelin Guide 2021 for its delicious food.
The extensive menu features dishes like Chicken Tikka, Lamb Rogan Josh and their iconic Butter Chicken.
I didn't want to jostle with the CBD lunch crowd so I visited the restaurant for dinner instead — it was much quieter and most of the seats were empty!
I took really long to order because the menu was so extensive and if I could, I would have opted to try everything.
Eventually, I settled for their Anglo signature dum biryani with chicken, madras prawn curry, and of course, their signature butter chicken. I also got some garlic naan to enjoy with the chicken.
I was so intrigued by their biryani! This is the first time I've seen it being served with a layer of cooked dough on top. The biryani itself was delicious. It had a much lighter consistency than the ones that I've previously tried and the rice was really fluffy.
The butter chicken biryani was heavenly. Extremely rich, creamy and indulgent. It paired perfectly with the garlic naan and I wish there was more of it.
I also loved the madras prawn curry! very creamy and packed full of spice. The prawns were also partially deshelled to make it easier to eat.
