Soi 47 is about a 10 minutes walk from Lavender station, taking over the area from AEIOU Cafe at King George’s Avenue. A little walk away from the street of cafes, this Thai restaurant serves up authentic Thai food - from fish dishes to Tom Yum soup, Mango Sticky Rice and everyone’s favourite Thai Ice Tea! Soi 47 started out as a small eatery at Toa Payoh before opening their 2nd outlet here. It is popular during the lunch and dinner period, mostly for their affordable price tag.

Their menu is extensive and lots of choose from. It is supposedly no added MSG and no GST. The interior is quite a spacious area where groups of customers can sit and enjoy their meals together. I would also recommend going with a group of people to share the food together. The atmosphere is great to dine at, but the music tends to get a little too loud. However, if you are here for the food - which you should be, then you will probably have an enjoyable time savouring the authentic Thai dishes and beverages.

Signature

Chendol, Claypot Tang Hoon w Prawns, Cockles w Spicy Sauce, Deep Fried Chicken w Honey Sauce, Deep Fried Drumstick w Garlic (6pcs), Deep Fried Prawn w Baby Garlic, Deep Fried Seabass w Baby Garlic, Deep Fried Seabass w Special Thai Chili Sauce, Fried Olive Rice, Fried Pineapple Rice, Green Curry w Prawns, Home Made Breaded Prawn Cake (4pcs), Home Made Pandan Chicken (4pcs), Home Made Thai Fish Cake (4pcs), Iced Lemongrass Drink, Papaya Salad, Red Ruby, Roast Pork, Steam Seabass w Thai Lime Sauce, Stir Fry Kai Lan w Mushroom, Stir Fry Kai Lan w Roasted Pork, Stir Fry Kang Kong w Sambal, Stuffed Chicken Wing w Minced Chicken (3pcs), Tom Yam Soup (Clear Style) w Seafood, Tom Yam Soup (Cream Style) w Seafood

I ordered Tom Yum soup and the Basil Seafood Rice with Fried Egg, along with my favourite Thai Ice Tea. The Basil rice dish was great, especially loved how fragrant the basil meat was. It was actually a little spicy, but in terms of portion, a plate for lunch is definitely enough for one person. There was too much sauce though, would have liked my rice not drenched in it when served. In fear of being too spicy for me to take, I asked for a less spicy option for my soup. It turned out just perfect. With prawns, squid, mussels and fried fish, I thought it was rather generous for a bowl of soup - lots of ingredients that made the soup really tasty. If your spice threshold isn’t great, make sure you ask for a less spicy option.

I sat down slightly past the lunch crowd, so I didn’t have to wait long for my food. For the price, I thought it was really worth it and will be back with my family and friends so that we are able to share the dishes together!
