China Whampoa Home Made Noodle had its humble beginnings all the way back in 1989. It was founded by Ah Bee and his wife, Ah Chiam.
The original outlet was at Whampoa Market Place and apart from that, it has several outlets scattered across Singapore. This one at Fernvale Hawker Centre is one of them!
As its name says, the noodles here are handmade from scratch to ensure its chewy, irregular texture that their customers know and love. What also makes them standout from their competitors is the use of more premium ingredients like abalone, prawns and razor clams.
When I arrived around 3pm, there was thankfully no queue so I didn't have to wait long!
I got the handmade noodles with abalone and razor clams and considering that my food only cost $10. I'd say it was quite a steal!
They give proper abalones here, not the typical mock ones that most people use. The razor clams were also real and pretty fresh. These went well with the springy, chewy handmade noodles. The soup here is on the lighter side and had a slight sweetness to it, probably due to the seafood.
Overall, I feel like it was really worth it and don't mind coming back to try their other renditions of ban mian!
