This family-run business has been passed down for four generations and has been in the local food scene for almost six decades.

It was established by Filzah Miranti Binte Mohd Dawood's great-grandmother, in 1963 and Filzah herself helps out with the business.

She had initially not wanted to as she had no interest or skills in cooking but she eventually decided to do so.

The family takes pride in the variety of dishes they sell, all of which are handmade from scratch using fresh ingredients. The recipes used are also the exact same ones that were used when the business first started and their customers, who have been coming to them for years, can testify to this.

Some traditional dishes they have to offer includes Nasi Rawon, Nasi Jenganan and Nasi Ambeng.

Signature

Nasi Jenganan, Nasi Rawon

I had come here wanting to try their Nasi Ambeng Set but unfortunately, when I reached one Saturday afternoon, they were out of stock. So, I opted to have nasi padang instead (mixed rice) so that I could DIY my meal.

I ordered rice with omelette, rendang and vegetables. I was surprised by the rendang as one fear I usually have when eating it is the meat is too tough. However, here, the flesh was extremely tender and broke apart easily. The meat and rice was also enhanced by the rich gravy that was doused all over the dish.

They seem to sell out very fast so do come down early to avoid disappointment!
