Sumo Big Prawn Noodle was started by a young man named Desmond, and his family helps him out with the business. Previously, he worked at his dad's hawker stall called Yong Heng Fried Hokkien Mee for 11 years before deciding to create a stall he could call his own. Interestingly, the rich, umami-packed signature broth used at Sumo Big Prawn is developed from Ying Heng Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee's stock, making it a family secret that has been passed down to the next generation. He also owns another stall in the same hawker complex specialising in Hokkien mee called Sumo Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee.

Signature Sumo Lobster Noodle, Sumo Big Prawn Noodle, Sumo Crayfish Noodle

While the prawn noodles here are significantly pricier than other prawn noodle spots in Singapore, it is for a very good reason. Once you receive your bowl of noodles, you’ll see why. The people behind Sumo Big Prawn Noodle do not hold back when it comes to ingredients and each bowl comes packed to the brim with a generous amount of ultra-fresh seafood, depending on which dish you order. The Sumo Big Prawn Noodle came laden with 3 massive sized prawns, plenty of clams and enough noodles to feed two people with small appetites. The soup base, while on the lighter side, had plenty of flavour and got its sweetness from the prawns and clams. It is definitely a more premium rendition than your usual bowl of prawn noodles and I feel that it is very worth the splurge!
