There are a couple of stalls that sells handmade noodles, including the variety of different ingredients. This stall, Lan Xing Handmade Noodles at Bukit Merah Central Food Centre is one of the few stalls that opened till late, serving the dinner crowd. The couple manning the stall are friendly, serving the customers one by one. There are dry and soup options -from the popular Ban Mian to Yi Mian or even Mee Hoon Kueh.

The noodles are handmade and prepared a few nights before, as well as the ingredients that go with the bowls including the vegetables, meatballs and seafood.

The food centre has a clear-your-own-tray system where there is a $0.50 deposit when you order with a tray. If you were to clear up and return the tray to the station, you’ll get your deposit back. So be sure to return your trays or opt for no trays when you order your food.

To be honest, I didn’t think much of the stall when I first queued up for my bowl of noodle soup. However, I wasn’t disappointed when I had my Mee Hoon Kueh soup during a raining evening. Portion-wise, it was enough for one person and adequate amount of the carbohydrates. Soup-wise, there wasn’t much too complain as well, as it was tasty for the palate though a little salty at times. It came with vegetables, as well as minced meat balls.

I didn’t wait long for my order to come, despite the number of people in front of me. It was also nice to have the friendly stall owners who made the experience better.
