Situated at the Bukit Merah Central Food Centre, Chun Kee Fish Ball Noodle is usually spotted with a long queue. Whether you are there for lunch or dinner, the couple is there to dish out bowls of noodles for their customers.

The uncle is very friendly, often offering to serve the customers if they aren’t seated too far. He will even check up on you to see if the noodles is to your liking. It definitely had a personal touch that made any customer feel good. Their food options was either kway teow or noodles, or fishball soup for those who are looking to only feast on the bouncy fishballs. I would recommend dry noodles, so that you can taste their homemade sauce. If your tolerance of spice is good, then go for the spicy/chilli option as well.

I didn’t have to wait too long for my bowl of spicy dry mee pok for lunch, despite the few customers in front of me. The uncle was very nice and offered to serve me my meal instead. My bowl had two fishballs, a few slices of fishcakes and minced meat, along with a bowl of warm soup on the side.

I have always enjoyed these bouncy fishballs and the ones served here are above average. It was chewy and packed with that slightly salty flavour, which paired really well with the spicy noodles. The noodles were not lumped together and had enough sauce to cover all the noodles. It wasn’t as spicy as I hoped for, but had enough of the punch that elevated the dish overall.
