Fatty Cheong has two stalls in the market with one selling wanton mee and another selling rice dishes. These are both plastered with a series of accolades and photos of the store owners posing with celebrities. The owner of the stall, Lachron, has been training his two sons to take over the business and both the stalls in the market are run by his family. His second son has even started training to work in the stall since he was out from NS when he was just 20 years, which is about 6 years of experience! With so many years of hard work under their belts, it's no wonder that this roast meat place is one of the best in Singapore.

When I arrived during lunchtime, the queue was very long and I had to wait around 15 minutes before it was my turn. I ordered myself the char siew rice which came with a generous amount of char siew atop a bed of white fluffy rice. The cha siew was tender and had a decent caramelisation without being too burnt. This paired well with the rice too, which had soaked up all the goodness of the dark sauce. I received the leaner meat which is good for people who don’t enjoy how cloying the fatty type of meat is. I also heard that it is possible to request the type of meat you want when you order your food!
