This humble hawker stall has been around since the 1950s and currently is helmed by Mr Quek Sio Tee.

In fact, the family run business has been around for so long that they used to sell carrot cake when kampungs existed in Singapore!

After moving out of the kampung, they brothers of the family opened several carrot cake stalls in the East with the name Original Changi Ten Mile Fried Carrot Cake and currently, there are five stalls scattered across Singapore.

Despite having so many stalls, each one ensures that the food consistency remains the same by using good quality ingredients.

Can't choose between black or white carrot cake? You can even opt to mix both!

I went around 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and there was no queue. Had wanted to opt for the prawn carrot cake but was told that it was not available anymore, so I went for the mix one so I could get the best of both worlds.

The chef manning the stall even cooked up a fresh batch for me right before my very eyes so I got to enjoy my food piping hot!

Just as I had anticipated, the carrot cake here was really well executed and had a good amount of wok hei and caramelisation. The food was also not too oily despite having been fried. Really recommend getting the mix option because after eating it, I still can't choose between the two!
