Jia Hui BBQ has received high praises from various fod blogs, including Makansutra. It is run by Mr Chang Jay Hui and his wife, Yiling. Fun fact — Mr Chang has actually been in the hawker scene since he was a teenager and he has been doing it ever since! He got very interested in the art of making good bak kwa since almost 20 years ago and has been working on it to make the perfect bak kwa. According to him, he slices the pork for his bak kwa at around 715am daily and these are smoked over heat till 8pm at night. He also insists on using pork collar meat to ensure that the bak kwa texture comes out soft and tender. While bak kwa is mostly sold during Chinese New Year, Jia Hui BBQ sells it all year long so anyone can enjoy it at anytime!

The range of menu items here were certainly very interesting and apart from their highly-lauded bak kwa, I was also curious about the iberico pork ribs, so I ordered myself a plate of it. The ribs were sizeable and meaty. Yiling, who was the one who attended to me, also ensured that these were grilled for me on the spot so that I could enjoy them fresh. She also passed me a set of plastic gloves so I could enjoy these without getting my hands dirty. The meat, as expected of iberico pork quality, was tender and juicy. It was also well-marinated with plenty of spices, making it extremely flavourful. I can imagine how good their iberico bak kwa must be!
