Zhou Pin has been at Bukit Timah Food Centre for around 7 to 8 years and is a family-run business. Usually, when you visit the store, you’ll see that it is being manned by 2 very sweet old ladies who tirelessly churn out piping hot bowls of porridge for their customers. Some of the options include classics like Century Egg Pork Porridge, Sliced Fish Porridge and Shredded Chicken Porridge. They also have some pretty interesting dishes like Frog Porridge and Raw Fish — not something you see every day at a humble porridge stall in a hawker centre! If you are visiting, to be forewarned that the queue at this stall can be quite long, especially during peak hours like lunch and dinner, so it is best to come early!

I’ve grown up eating the porridge here and the food here has never failed to satisfy me. Out of all the variations I’ve tried, my favourite is the Century Egg Pork Porridge which comes laden with chunky bits of century egg and tender pork bits. The porridge here is also very silky and smooth so it’s easy to consume and very soothing. Each bowl of porridge, no matter what you order, comes with a long stick of you tiao (fried dough fritter) which you can dip in the porridge! It’s very crispy and I love the texture of it after it has been dipped in the creamy porridge. Very worth it for the price point and the perfect dish for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
