This Hokkien mee stall is run by a father and son duo and they garner one of the longest queues at Bukit Timah Hawker Centre. They’ve been at the market for decades and can always be seen working together to whip up sinfully good plates of Hokkien mee. What makes them stand out from other Hokkien mee stalls in Singapore is their yellow noodles and I think they are the only ones who use flat yellow noodles instead of the regular round ones. They only sell Hokkien mee here and this is available in different sizes that are indicated by the price points. If you plan on trying their food, do come early as they always have long queues, especially dyring peak periods like lunch and dinner!
Signature
I’ve grown up eating the Hokkien mee and to date, I still name Xie Kee Hokkien Mee as one of the best Hokkien mee spots in Singapore. Like many others, what I especially like about their Hokkien mee is the flat yellow noodles. While this may seem like a small thing to some, I find that it does affect the texture of the dish and helps to hold more of that umami-packed gravy. The prawn stock used here is also very rich and you can taste it in every mouthful of noodles. There is also a decent amount of wok hei. Ingredients wise, it's quite generous and you can expect to find copious amounts of squid and pork in every mouthful. Prawns could be bigger though but that is the case with most Hokkien mee in Singapore.
