He Zhong Carrot Cake is a family-run business that has been at Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre since 1973. As of now, the stall is mainly run by Mr. Teo Boon Kuang and his daughter, Alberta Teo, who intends to take over the stall to carry on the family business. The stall was founded by Mr Teo’s father many years ago. What makes them so special is the fact that they only sell white carrot cake, so if you’re looking for black carrot cake, this isn’t the place to be at. The carrot cake is also served in large, chunky pieces, unlike most carrot cakes that serve it in a flat pancake style. They even make their own kueh with a secret recipe. Unique!

Signature

Carrot Cake

This is one of my favourite carrot cakes in Singapore and one of the better white carrot cake I’ve tried. They always have a long queue and when I came during dinner, it was about a 20 minute wait for my food. Thankfully, they were nice enough to deliver it to my table for me. What I really love is how chunky the carrot cake here so you get a good bite with every mouthful. The kueh is binded together with plenty of egg and the dish is chock full of wok hei. The chilli is also excellent and is not too spicy so you can really taste the flavour of it. The carrot cake here is also insanely cheap — just $2.50 for the smallest portion!
