Tucked away in Bukit Timah Food Centre is Leng Kee Fish Soup, a family-run business that has been around since 1997. It is located in the bustling Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre, making its location central and easily accessible, especially since it is located near Beauty World MRT station. The current owner of the stall, Mr Wan, took over the businesses from his father at the tender age of 20 and has been running it ever since. The stall specialises in a variety of fish and seafood dishes such as Fish Head Soup, Fish Porridge and Seafood Soup. Apart from that, they even have Braised Pig’s Trotter which doesn’t really fit into the seafood-themed menu, but it works!

As I grew up in the area, I’ve eaten the fish soup here a number of times and it has remained one of my favourite fish soups in Singapore. The soup, while light and clean, has a nice sweet and savoury touch thanks to the essence of the fish. I also really love the texture of the fish here which is springy and firm, unlike many other places where the fish is usually flaky. The fish is also very fresh and does not have a distasteful overly fishy smell. Portion sizes here are also very generous despite the cheap price point, making it an affordable meal option. It’s also very healthy, making it perfect for weight conscious individuals!
