Han Jia Bak Kut Teh was founded in 1963 by a man called Mr Han who used to sell his delicious food in a back alley at MacPherson before making East Coast Lagoon Hawker Centre his home. It is now run by Mr Han’s son who used to be an engineer. The stall is a hotspot for beach-goers who visit East Coast Park for a chill day and they open quite late in the day, making it a good spot for supper or a late dinner. Apart from soothing bowls of bak kut teh, the shop has a number of other scrumptious offerings such as liver & kidney soup as well gelatinous pork leg that is packed with plenty of collagen.

Signature

BAK KUT TEH, Pork Leg

This has easily become one of my favourite bak kut teh stalls in Singapore! I got the set that comes with bak kut teh, vinegar pork trotter and rice ($10) The bak kut teh here is the Teochew-style rendition so the soup is on the peppery and cloudy side. I was also surprised to find that the meat here was fall-off-the-bone tender and very succulent. The dish that really made me very excited was the vinegar pork trotter — it was pretty impressive to be served such a huge pork trotter! This was very gelatinous and came with plenty of collagen which is good for your skin. It’s very easy to eat as well as the pork just falls off the bone. Dish was also a nice balance of sour and savoury. Am drooling as I type this now!
