Hai Nan Hometown Curry first opened at Jurong West Market and Food Centre.

They eventually moved shop to Ghim Moh Market & Food Centre and have now even expanded to have more stalls in the west at Bukit Panjang and Pioneer, as well as in the north at Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre.

They've been in the hawker scene for years and are best known for as their name says, curry.

They have different versions of it too. Apart from the usual curry chicken, there is also Curry Chicken Cutlet Rice, Curry Fish Fillet Rice and even Curry Mutton for those who prefer something gamier.

I love all variations of curry and to me, it's the ultimate comfort dish. So, I was excited to try Hai Nan Hometown Curry.

There was a slight queue when I visited them on a weekend afternoon but this moved relatively quickly.

I decided to indulge in a classic — curry chicken with rice — and was pleasantly surprised by the portion size, which was very filling.

The curry was a little spicier than I anticipated it to be but was still bearable for someone with low spice tolerance like me. The chicken was good too and was decently tender. All-in-all, a very simple yet hearty dish.
