Long queues are a common sight at this stall. Lin Yu Mei sells only two dishes - Sarawak laksa and kolo mee, both famous cuisines in Sarawak, a state in Malaysia. Many people have attested to its likeliness to the ones served in Malaysia, so it’s safe to say that what you are getting is pretty authentic.

This hawker stall is run by Mdm Ling Hang Hua and her sister who are Malaysians, spreading their love for the noodle dishes here in Singapore. Kolo mee has a distinctive type of springy noodles that can be enjoyed at any time of the day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even supper. All the ingredients used are natural, with no preservatives used.

Sarawak Kolo Mee

I queued for approximately 15-20 minutes for a bowl of the kolo mee a little after lunch hours. As expected, most people in the queue were there for the famous kolo mee. The curly pale-yellow egg noodles is a staple in kolo mee, along with the transparent sauce that adds flavour as well as acting as a layer of oil to prevent the noodles from sticking together.

Even though it looked ordinary and plain, it was one satisfying meal. The noodles were tender and chewy with an elastic-like texture, while the minced meat and sliced char siew added a layer of sweetness to it.
