Located at Kovan Food Centre, the sugarcane stall predominately sells sugarcane, as well as other can drinks. For a shop name that says ‘Traditional sugarcane juice’, most people queue up for their sweet and refreshing sugarcane juice. There is constantly a queue forming, but because there are a few young lads manning the stall at a time, I didn’t have to wait long before my turn.

Like most sugarcane stalls, there are options with the addition of lemon or not, but most people do like a little sourness to their drink. There are 3 different sizes of cups to choose from - Small, medium and large. For those who doesn’t want ice in their drinks, there is an additional surcharge for it. However, for a such a hot summer weather like Singapore, who would ever say no to a delicious iced drink?

Sugarcane juice to me, felt like the beverage that I’ll order when I have a full plethora of foods to share with family and friends. Perhaps it is part of the hawker culture that I grew up with, and so drinking sugarcane juice is usually a pleasant experience. The stall at Kovan sports a modern look - with its black signboard and young black-tee lads churning out sugarcane juice one after and other. There has to be a number of straining before it goes into the final cup, and with this drink, I’d say go with lemon and lots of ice.

The small cup isn’t really enough, so I’ll recommend getting a medium cup full of ice instead. The sugarcane juice was sweet and really refreshing, with just the right amount of sourness from the lemon.
