If you adore traditional Asian-style desserts, House of the Desserts should be your next stop.

The humble dessert stall at Albert Market & Food Centre sells a huge variety of both cold and hot desserts — yes, desserts can be hot too! — such as sweet potato soup, peanut soup with rice balls, and pulut hitam. Most of these are stored in huge metal vans to keep these warm and are spooned out upon order for hungry customers.

What's amazing here are the prices, which are mostly kept below $3 — truly value-for-money and hard to find these days!

I usually crave for desserts after a hearty meal so this time around, I decided to get a bowl of mo mo cha cha from House of Desserts to satisfy my sweet tooth.

This cost me a mere $2 — what a steal! — and the portion size was decent. For the unitiated, mo mo cha cha — or bubur cha cha — is a dish Malay dessert that is made with sweet potato, yam, coconut milk and pandan leaves. However, different versions of this have evolved over time and now Chinese stalls sell it too. This mo mo cha cha came with a decent amount of sweet potatoes and the soup had a creamy taste. My only wish was for the soup to be a tad bit thicker and it would be perfect!
