Located on the second floor of Chinatown Complex, Millennium Glutinous Rice stays true to their name, selling only glutinous rice packed in the hawker-classic brown paper packet.
(For our Japanese residents, frequent patrons of the Chinatown area understand the word "mochi" too, eating it as a light meal, or even for breakfast!)
One of the rare glutinous rice stalls left in the country, with Niu Che Shui Famous Glutinous Rice closing down in 2012. Mr. Steven Lam, a former engineer, quit his job to continue this 40-year-legacy, and reopened Millennium Glutinous Rice as the new tao-kay of the store. Exercising his inquisitive mind, Mr. Lam applied his engineering skills to the hawker industry, consistently seeking ways to recreate Niu Che Shui Famous Glutinous Rice's legendary recipe. His hard work has come to fruition, gathering loyal customers for 7 continued years who approve that his recipe has lived up to expectations.

Glutinous Rice

My Japanese friend brought me to this store. I made in time; this clearly popular stall's dish was almost sold out by noon! Customers who came after me were turned down by the tao-kay, who said "没有!(No more!)"
Once an engineer, always an engineer; the way Mr. Lam measured the every single serving on a weighing scale accurately on the very first scoop, showed how much he valued efficiency and precision.
Let's dive into the taste; between the salty and sweet option, I chose the salty version. Strong peanut oil taste with a kick of saltiness. Yet, I could still taste the sweetness of the rice, and the crispy yet moist fried onion flakes sprinkled on top gave it a distinct flavour. At first, I could not stop myself from devouring it, but after awhile I could only taste the salted whole peanuts. The oil and salt caused me to slow down my chopsticks. (I mean, I admit that I ordered the salty one but) it'll be much better to buy one packet for two people to share. Very good, the glutinous rice had just the right moistness!
