It isn’t an easy task navigating around the ginormous food centre, with lots of stalls and food to choose from.

The Sixties, unlike the the name suggests, sells a variety of savoury dishes or can also be labelled as dim sum. The stall offers traditional Yam Cake, Chee Cheong Fun, Soon Kueh, Peng Kueh, and Glutinous Rice. Sometimes, the stall even offers Pumpkin Cake for those looking to switch things up a little.

The staff was rather friendly when I asked for recommendations or questioning the flavours displayed at the stall. It is ideal for snacks over coffee or tea, or a breakfast dish to start your day.

There are takeaway options - which most people do, but I would recommend steaming the savoury snacks before consuming them.

Making of these kuehs take a long time and with the variety of options to choose from, I thought The Sixties are doing a commendable job. I ordered the Yam Kueh and it came with the sweet sauce that’s usually found in Chee Cheong Fun. I would have liked it to come without it, but since I didn’t request for it beforehand, I accepted what was offered.

The kueh itself was a little tough and it breaks easily with a fork, resulting in little pieces scattered on the plate. However, the kueh itself was rather fragrant and tasty. I also enjoyed pairing it with the chilli sauce that added the right amount of spice to it. The texture didn’t fare as well as the taste, but I’m willing to give this shop another try the next time.
