Joo Chiat Beef King has two outlets — one at Tiong Bahru Market and another at Toa Payoh Lor 8 Market. The owner and chef hails from Shan Dong and has run and owned Joo Chiat Beef King for around nine years. The stall actually belonged to previous owners who passed it to the current owner, who decided to keep the original name. All the recipes are also inspired by his home back in China and he wakes up early every day to prepare his beef so that consumers can enjoy the protein in its best form.

I ordered the dry beef noodles which feature springy noodles drenched in a copious amount of dark, viscous gravy and the dish is topped with a generous serving of cubed beef. A soup version of the dish is also available but the dry noodles come with a side of soup either way so you still can get a chance to try it. The noodles were springy and paired well with the beef which was uber tender and juicy. The thick sauce also helped to elevate the natural flavors of the beef and added a nice savory sweetness to the dish. I also thoroughly enjoyed the soup and you can tell that it has been boiled for very long as it is very rich and chock full of umami.
