East Seafood White MeeHoon has been a fan-favourite stall at Toa Payoh Lorong 8, often seen with a long queue that stretch out of the hawker centre. The small stall houses about 2 chefs who prepare and cook each order individually - which explains the long waiting hours. Though their menu states for 1 person, it is recommended to have a foodie buddy with you to finish this dish. East Seafood White MeeHoon serves a wet, soup-like plate of seafood goodness but don’t go there starving and be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes.

I ordered their speciality for one and it came with prawns, sliced fish and clams. It was a rather big portion for one person but that’s not the issue here. Getting to taste the food took about an hour (queuing + waiting) so be sure to pace yourself before you head down.

I prefer a wet bee hoon style and was glad that there were enough gravy in each spoon. The gravy was not too salty, but I was a little disappointed that the bee hoon didn’t really soak in the gravy. What I loved about this dish is the beautiful charred taste to it, the kind of wok-hei aroma you’re looking for. An overall delicious plate, but maybe not on a weekend.
