Wanton noodles and prawn dumpling noodles are quite a staple in Singaporean’s diet. Whether is it for lunch, dinner or even a filling breakfast, many locals flock to the hawker centres for a taste of their favourite noodle dish. This shop at Toa Payoh doesn’t make anything look over fancy. At a food centre with many different shops all housed in one area, it is easy to be overlooked, but this stall - mend by 2 older women - make sure the operation of the stall runs smoothly daily. You may also pre-order your food to ease your waiting time.

Like fast food restaurants who encourage you to add-on ingredients or food to complete a meal, this stall also allows you to complete your meal with a top-up of $1. Option of a bowl of wanton soup, fried wantons and dumpling soup.

Signature

Signature Noodle

This stall, Hougang Meng Kee Wanton Noodles is a popular stall that can be seen with long queues. Not only is the food tasty, it's also sold a very affordable price.

I tried the prawn dumpling noodles and was satisfied by it. While the portion is a little small compared to what I had in mind, I throughly enjoyed the chewy prawn dumplings. The noodles was chewy and coated with a generous portion of chilli and dark sauce. Served with vegetables and 4 prawn dumplings in soup.

While I was waiting for my turn, there were about 3 people in front of me, and almost all ordered a dish related to dumplings. It didn’t take too long - approximately 10 minutes before my meal was served as they had to cook a new batch of dumplings for me. Those who love the crunch and taste of chicken feet, opt for their ‘signature noodle’, having the best of everything in one bowl.
