Ji Ji Wanton Noodles was set up in 1965 by the original owners before the stall was passed down to their daughter, Madam Lai Yau Kiew. Eventually, she handed over the business to her own daughters — Kristen and Jill — who have been helming the stall till today. The food here is so good that it is listed in the prestigious Michelin Guide with a Michelin Plate. It’s easy to spot their food — just look out for their iconic bright purple halved-egg-shaped bowls. Their most famous menu item here is the Ji Ji Signature Char Siew Wanton Noodles, but they do have other options such as Chicken Cutlet Noodle, Braised Chicken Feet Noodle and Curry Chicken Cutlet Noodle.

Of course, while here, I had to order the Ji Ji Signature Char Siew Wanton Noodles. I got the dry version and the bowl was filled with al dente egg noodles and topped generously with char siew, wanton, mushrooms, vegetables and a fried dumpling. I was thoroughly impressed with the dish, especially with the noodles which had an addictively springy and chewy texture. The ingredients were also very fresh and I like how they did not hold back with the portion size. It definitely was worth every cent and I can see why it received the Michelin Plate accolade.
