Viet Quan Vietnamese Food opened early this year and is run by a lady called Cindy, who took over the stall from her Vietnamese friend. Cindy moved to Singapore when she was just 21 years old because she said she loves how Singapore is a safe and clean country. She worked in the hotel industry for a few years before deciding to take over the shop, and she did so because she is very passionate about her roots and wants locals to have a taste of authentic Vietnamese food and culture. The stall has a myriad of Vietnamese food options which will leave one spoilt for choice!

Having never been to Vietnam before, I was very curious and excited to try the food here. I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong ($5), which translates to dry rice noodles with BBQ pork in English. I was very impressed with the serving size, which was massive. Here, chunks of BBQ pork and fresh vegetables lie atop a hefty serving of rice noodles. Cindy told me to pour some of her chilli sauce over the noodles and give it a good mix. The chilli sauce gave the dish a sweet taste and was not spicy. If you like vegetables, this dish is perfect for you as after mixing everything together, you get a good amount of vegetables in every mouthful. The BBQ pork was also well marinated and flavourful, adding a savoury element to the whole dish. I would definitely come back to try her other offerings and this is a good place for people who miss Vietnam during this period to get some authentic Vietnamese food!
