There are many great stalls at Zion Road Food Centre, but one that particularly stands out is Ah Wang La Mian Xiao Long Bao. Easily seen with a queue, this stall serves up noodles, soup and definitely pan-friend and steamed dumplings.
There are also a variety of dumplings, filled with different ingredients like Pork and Leek Dumplings, Szechuan Spicy Wanton, and the normal or rather, classic dumplings with pork fillings inside and a portion of soup that oozes out with every bite.
The hawker area itself is a large area, with adequate seats, even for prime dining timings like lunch and dinner times. Rather clean as well, just that there is not escape from the influx of birds and pigeons that come to feed on leftovers.
In terms of pricing, it isn’t that too expensive, considering it is located at a prime area, near popular shopping malls like Great World City. Even if you’re looking for a nice savoury snack, or dinner, this is a good place for you and your friends to enjoy.
You can call me a convert after eating a bowl of dumplings from Ah Wang La Mian Xiao Long Bao. As someone who is particular about the smell and use of vegetables into the dumplings, I was rather fussy on what’s in it. For this, it not only hadn’t have the kind of vegetables that I disliked, it was really delicious.
I had to wait about 10 minutes for my turn to order, and about another 5 minutes for it was steamed-to-order. The large pour of the homemade chilli added a kick to the palate, and the pipping hot minced pork inside was chewy. Good thing the dough wasn’t too thick, so each bite had a good portion of meat with skin.
Definitely will be back for more.
