The establishment first opened at Victoria Hotel in 1995, and subsequently moved to a number of locations such as Shaw Tower’s Food Court and Bras Basah Complex Food Court before finally settling down at its current spot at Bulkhaul House. The Taiwanese-style stall was actually opened by a former Taiwanese basketballer, which explains why the food here tastes so authentic and similar to what you can get in Taiwan itself. The interior of the eatery is very old school and simple, and eating here will make you feel like you’ve been zipped back in time to the 1990’s.

Supreme Pork Chop Rice Exterior

I will be honest and say that I was definitely not expecting the food here to taste so good! I got the Pork Chop Rice, which was very affordably priced and cost just $4.50. Despite being so cheap, the portion sizes here are insanely generous and the large plate was packed with a massive, sliced up pork cutlet, rice, pickles and vegetables. The chicken was covered in a crisp batter that was made with a combination of pepper, cinnamon and other spices. It tasted very similar to what you can get in Taiwan and was slightly sweet with hints of savouriness and pepperiness. I also like how it wasn’t overly greasy. The rice also added a nostalgic touch and was drenched in a savoury gravy. I also really like the pickles and vegetables which added a nice crunch to every mouthful.
