In 1966, Mr. Watson's parents opened "Da Dong Prawn Noodles". Ms. Watson was previously from the banking industry, but when his father was diagnosed with cancer, he left his banking position determined to protect this stall. He learnt how to cook from scratch, and devoted all his time to study under his parents. His hard work has truly paid off, with many of their loyal customers complimenting him for making delicious Prawn Noodles that taste exactly like how his parents have made them. It was only then that his parents entrusted the business to him. He comes to the stall at 4.30a.m. every morning, peeling off the prawn shell, removing the back veins from the prawn gingerly before simmering the soup for many hours. They serve 4 types of noodles; Yellow Mee, Kway Teow, Bee Hoon and Mee Pok. The most popular dish would be the Yellow Mee Prawn Noodle (Soup). They also recommend ordering half yellow mee, half bee hoon soup. There will be a snake-like queue by lunch hour, so do come early to avoid disappointment! A heartwarming backstory of family love and a lovely stall indeed.

Prawn Noodles Soup

I came for lunch with my dad.
Although we reached at around 10a.m., it was already overflowing with customers. We planned to share the Big Prawn Noodles for $13 but they ran out of big prawns, so we ordered 2 Yellow Mee Prawn Noodles for $8 each, one soup one dry. There was vegetables, meat, and prawns that were carefully peeled and deveined. Truly delicious and chewy noodles! And the soup... The prawn broth was so distinct in flavour with the right amount of saltiness, rich and savoury <3 For the dry version, the chilli was pretty spicy, so do ask for no chilli if you can't handle spice well!
