You can easily walk past it, thinking it’s your everyday convenience store located at the MRT station, but Skinny Cakes is far from it. The humble bakery churns out delicious warm muffins and cakes daily that are healthier, without compromising its taste.
The muffins are made with less sugar, less butter and plain yogurt, while the options for their dessert cakes are also made using healthier ingredients. Flavours of the treats range from light and refreshing bites to savoury rich chocolate desserts. Apart from the small treats they sell at the store, Skinny Cakes is open to whole-cake orders for celebrations as well.
I got the sea salt caramel muffin, the earl grey muffin, the tofu cheesecake and the flourless dark chocolate mousse. Overall, I will definitely head back for more.
I was initially a little taken aback by the price of the muffins as it was a little pricey for the size of it, but after my first bite into it, I am convinced by it and will definitely head back to try the other flavours. Made with yogurt and healthier options, I was skeptical about the taste but it was light, fluffy and chewy. Flavour-wise, it was simply near perfection.
For the desserts, I enjoyed their signature tofu cheese cake which has a smooth and silky texture, that had just the right tartness in this refreshing dessert. The flourless dark chocolate mousse was definitely thicker and richer both in texture and taste, which is best shared among friends.
