The stall has been around since 2001 and is owned by Mr Robin Foo, who set up the shop with his wife because he wanted Singaporeans to get a taste of authentic Malaysian-style food. His wife hails from Klang itself, and her extended family run a bak kut teh shop, which is where they learnt the recipe from. Instead of the usual clear, peppery soup that most Singaporeans are used to, the soup here is darker and made with herbs, giving it a robust and rich flavour with strong herbal notes. The stall opens till the wee hours of the morning, making it a great supper spot for hungry patrons who need to satisfy their bak kut teh cravings.

Bak Kut Teh

The bak kut teh came served to me piping hot and for just $7, you get sizeable chunks of pork ribs that are doused in a dark soup. The herbal taste of the soup is much stronger than what I am used to so I was initially a little taken aback by it. However, the taste eventually grows on you and each spoonful of soup gets more comforting and delicious as you go along. The pork ribs were decently tender and had soaked up all the goodness of the soup. I also liked how these were substantially meaty and had a good bite to it. You can opt to pair this with rice and you tiao, but honestly, the soup is quite filling by itself.
