Foong Kee Coffee Shop along Keong Saik Road is one of the local hawker-esque eatery that draws in the crowd despite the hip cafes and Michelin-starred restaurants surrounding it. The storefront is plastered with newspaper and magazine clippings, but it doesn’t take long for one to know how popular they are with locals and tourists when you look at the number of people in line for some Cantonese delights. Most people come here for the char siew and crispy roast pork which satisfy their food cravings without splurging too much.
If you intend to head down for a quick meal, our recommendation is that you arrive way earlier than its lunch and dinner crowd, or else be prepared to wait for at least 30minutes to an hour for your meal.

A couple of us ordered Wanton Noodles, Roast Pork, Roast Duck and Wanton Soup. Overall, it was a delightful meal that satisfied our hungry tummies. However, because of the long waiting time and portion size, it didn’t live up to its hype. It’s great - don’t get me wrong - but it wasn’t the best roast pork or char siew that commands an hour of idling, and we were there at about 11am.
First thing first, the roast pork was really great, had the slight charred taste and chewy bits, which we would recommend anyone to get a plate on its own. However, the noodles and roast duck were quite ordinary. I did enjoy the wantons, which had the perfect ratio of filling to skin, on top of the crunchy water chestnut bits that added texture to the overall fare.
