Good Morning Nanyang Cafe is owned by a man called Byron Shoh and had humble beginnings in April 2005 and it slowly became a popular destination for both locals and tourists for old school local breakfast food. Its original store was located at Majestic Theatre in Chinatown and the Far East Plaza store is part of their franchise. The tea here is made from tea leaves instead of tea bags, which makes the tea extra concentrated and fragrant. They are also popular for their kaya which is made using only natural ingredients such as coconut milk, pandan leaves and plenty of eggs.

They have a number of breakfast options available including traditional toast and drink sets. I ordered Set A ($4.70), which comes with traditional toast with runny eggs and your choice of tea (teh) or coffee (kopi). There were four squares of kaya toast and the bread was crunchy and nicely toasted. I love the kaya, which was creamy, rich and slightly gritty. The soft boiled eggs were also fresh and you can sprinkle it with the provided white pepper and soya sauce for some added flavour. Something that you may want to try doing as well is dunking the kaya toast into the egg, which makes for an odd yet delicious combination that you will either hate or enjoy. I also ordered tea with my set and I was surprised to find how rich, milky and concentrated the drink was.
