Ting Heng Seafood has been around for decades and was established in 1986.

The popular restaurant is located in a quiet corner of Tiong Bahru and is mainly al fresco seating.

They specialise in both fish steamboat and tzi char, so it's a great place for gatherings.

For the fish steamboat, there are several fish options available such as pomfret, red garoupa, song fish head and geoduk. Those who don't like seafood can also consider the mutton steamboat.

There is also the option of ordering other ingredients like pork and beef slices, noodles and fried beancurd to add to your pot.

For tzi char, there are menu items like black pepper beef, scallop with broccoli and hotplate beancurd.

I visited the restaurant on Labour Day evening for dinner and as expected, it was crowded because it was a public holiday.

Thankfully, I managed to snag a seat outdoors. My dining companions and I ordered a pomfret steamboat and added other ingredients like sliced beef and pork, vegetables and mushrooms. We also got some fried beancurd to dip into the soup.

The soup base was so good! I couldn't stop slurping it up. It was extremely sweet thanks to the fish.

While the fish steamboat is meant to be the star of the show, I have to praise the sliced meats as well. These were very fresh and added flavour to the soup.
