When you can’t travel to Thailand for some of your favourite Tom Yum or Pineapple rice, skip the normal Thai food and try something different with Moo Station. The rather new stall serves its famous Phuket Dry Rice Porridge, something you don’t come across often in Singapore. It is perhaps the first stall that sells this unique dish.
Located at Crawford Lane at a hawker area, Moo Station is situated at a corner with its welcoming neon signs. The stall only officially opened in September 2021 by husband and wife duo David and Sandy. Sandy is from Thailand and the chef who whips up those delicious bowls of dry porridge. Their signature Pork Dry Rice Porridge comes in 2 sizes ($5 for small, $7 to large), along with other dishes like Pork Porridge and sides like Crispy Pork Belly and Fried Pork Skin.
Sandy was a former freelance tour guide in Phuket, she used to bring guests and tourists to the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant that of course - sells Khao Tom Haeng.

It was my first time trying a Dry Rice Porridge and it was definitely something memorable. Stall owner David was really friendly and shared with me more about it and recommended me to add on an onsen too. Each bowl comes with ingredients such as pork ribs, meat, handmade meatball, pork slices, liver and pork stomach, along with fried garlic and pork lard.
It is called a dry rice porridge because while it isn’t congee-like or a bowl of soup, it is more like the rice grains are wet, covered with pork-bone broth - savoury and rich with flavours. The mix of spices and strong pork aroma comes through with each spoonful. Towards the end, the garlic was a little too overpowering for me, but other than that, I enjoyed my food. For $5, I definitely thought it was more than enough for one person and the generous servings of ingredients is worth mentioning about too. Would love to bring my parents there to try this unique dish sometime again.
