The founder of Legendary Bak Kut Teh, Chui Chui, grew up on a pig farm, which is where she gained her knowledge of pigs. After marrying her husband who was a cook, they started Legendary Bak Kut Teh with the help of their daughter. Over time, they became more popular and are now known to have one of the best bak kut tehs in Singapore. The walls of their restaurant at Rangoon Road are plastered with pictures of famous celebrities and people who have tried their much raved about food, a good testemenet to how popular their food is!

I got a bowl of their classic Legendary Bak Kut Teh, Braised Pig Trotter and Tau Pok. The bak kut teh was piping hot and the ribs exceeded my expectations and were extremely tender with a good pork to fat ratio. The soup also was a nice blend of savouriness and pepperiness and was not overwhelming on the senses. They also were very generous with the soup and kept refilling it for us. I’ve not eaten pork trotter much before so I was excited to try the one here. Pork trotter has a very high fat ratio and this made the meat uber tender and juicy. I was also surprised by how much meat was on it, it was quite a lot! The tau pok was juicy and soaked up a lot of the savoury sauce so every piece was packed with flavour. The staff here were also super nice and efficient! I will definitely be back.
