There are 3 outlets of Miam Miam, one being at Westgate, another at Tampines One and the more central location at Bugis Junction. It’s not common to come across a French-Japanese fusion restaurant, and when Miam Miam came to the picture, there were a lot of talk about this and people raving over their food.
Miam Miam is translated to ‘yum yum’ in French, and it serves a whole range of food – from starters like soup and salads to pastas, risottos and desserts like pancakes, French toasts and souffles. Of course, like most Japanese menu, expect some really tasty matcha beverage and ice cream options as well.
The dining area at the Bugis Junction outlet is rather big, sits right in the middle of the extended area, just outside of BHG and various sports shops. The area is able to sit about 30 people, but with peak timings, you are bound to wait for at least 20 minutes for it.
Signature
Baked Miso Honey Wings, Baked Miso Honey Wings, Caramelised Banana Pancake, Miam Miam Haze, Miam Miam Spaghetti, Shogayaki Pork Donburi, Souffle De Nuage, Tender Stiploin Foie Gras Donburi w Butter Truffle Paste, Tender Stiploin Foie Gras Donburi w Butter Truffle Paste, Truffle Oil Onsen Mushroom Soup
I patronized the café during dinner time, but was a little too full for a full meal, so I opted for a bowl of Truffle Oil Onsen Egg Mushroom Soup, as well as thee Valrhona Chocolate Souffle.
The texture of the soup was a first for me. It felt more like chopped up pieces of oat, rather than a smooth velvety texture. It has a rich and earthy taste, with the runny egg yolk that gives an extra flair to it. It was probably too rich for my liking and I wasn’t able to finish it. For the Chocolate souffle, it was a tad disappointing from what I was hoping to be served. While the taste and texture of the souffle (crisp on the outside and soft on the inside) was hitting the mark, I felt the insides of the souffle was damp, as compared to an airy cake-like texture for it.
Based on the crowds, I would probably go back to Miam Miam again, this time to try the main dishes and other desserts like the French Toast.
