The stall has been at Lucky Plaza for around 14 years and was started by a Singaporean man and his Indonesian wife. At the front of their stall, they display their myriad of dishes in a glass case and you can point at and choose. For the uninitiated, nasi padang is essentially like a Malay mixed rice where you can customise your plate of rice with traditional dishes. It’s a great way to try out a little bit of everything! The prices here are a little steep but that is also because they are located in Town, which is understandable.

I ordered a plate of rice paired with Assam Pedas (fish), Ayam Penyet (chicken), Sambal kang Kong and a Fried Boiled Egg. I really liked the Ayam Pedas had a nice spicy zest to it and I was pleased to find that the fish was fresh and fleshy as some places tend to serve fishy, strong-smelling fish. The Ayam Penyet, which translates to smashed fried chicken, had a crispy skin and was well cooked. Vegetable-wise, Sambal Kang Kong added a nice crunch to the dish and the sambal provided a pretty good kick. I also quite like the fried boiled egg which is a nice change from your usual boiled egg. They also provided two other chillies on the side for each plate of nasi padang ordered and these were fiery, tart and packed a mighty punch.
