No one really says no to a bowl of Bak Kut Teh, especially if it’s a household name like rong Hua.
Rong Hua Bak Kut Teh traces way back to the 1920s when the founding father Mr Chua Ah Hua came to Singapore and found of that a bowl of Bak Kut Teh gave him the energy he needed, and so after years of learning from his mentor Uncle Rong, he took over and came up with Rong Hua Bak Kut Teh.
The eatery at Fusionpolis not only has a large enough area to accommodate hungry diners during the peak period, but when the working area tends to get quieter in the evening, Rong Hua Bak Kut Teh is quite the perfect place to wind down and savour a good bowl of hearty soup.
In additional to pork rib soup, there are other options like pig stomach, liver, intestines and pig kidney soup that goes well with pork ribs, or with the soup.
In a way, I was expecting nothing less from this eatery as their name and history is one where you would hope for a great bowl of pork rib soup. While the place itself wasn’t that crowded during the dinner hour, I felt they were a little short-staffed, considering it was just 1-2 person running around, taking care of orders as well as takeaway delivery orders.
However, waiting for my meal to be served to the table after ordering was quick, and had piping hot soup within 10 minutes. The soup was peppery and a really rich garlic aftertaste. There was a good amount of pig stomach served and it was chewy to the bite. Of course, dipping each slice with chilli and paired with rice is always a great way to savour the food.
Like most other Bak Kut The places, you can always refill your soup for unlimited times, but truth be told, after two to three bowls, it can get a bit too much and I’d say get a thirst-quenching drink on the side to conclude the meal.
