Constructed in 1978, the first batch of street hawkers in independent Singapore, several from Chinatown's Hokien Street, relocated to Hong Lim Market and Food Centre. It is one of the first hawker centres that laid its roots in the Chinatown area. Situated on Upper Cross Street and nestled among housing estates, the centre houses over a hundred hawker stalls. Some of the popular stalls include the Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa, which received a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide, as well as bak chor mee (minced pork noodles), wanton mee (noodles served with dumplings), and bak kut teh (pork bone soup).

Popular Michelin recommended chicken curry noodles made with a recipe that is decades old. Also one of the few places that use silky poached chicken in the dish.
Winning the Bib Gourmand recognition in the MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2018, along with loyal snaking queues and a 3rd generation running it - this stall is loved by many.
Wonton noodles at an affordable $3.50, comes with generous portions of kai lan and juicy cuts of char siew meat. Highly recommended.
